Fibreglass Pool Cost Guide

One of the most frequent questions we receive from potential pool owners is: How much does a fiberglass pool cost?

Although the answer to this question can differ substantially, I will do my best here to explain some general pricing guidelines.

When purchasing a swimming pool, it is much like the purchase of a vehicle or even a home. With so many options available, the price ranges can vary drastically.

Just as a Nissan Patrol can start at around $60k with just a basic package, it can quickly cost over $120k once a shopper adds such items as tinted windows, hard top, all-leather interior, chrome finishes, turbo diesel engine, upgraded doors, upgraded grille, and a custom painted exterior.

Considering that the average person sells or trades in their vehicle within the first five-seven years of purchase, why do so many people choose to get so many upgrades? The answer is because most people understand the importance of getting what they want the first time to not have any regrets down the road. As most people spend over 30 mins per day in their cars, they want to make sure their car will provide them with quality, longevity, and featured comforts.

These same principles normally apply to most inground swimming pool shoppers.

You are going to see your swimming pool every single day for the duration you stay in your home. Therefore, choosing the right pool, with the right options for your family is critical to ensure maximum enjoyment with minimal maintenance. Because of this, most shoppers elect to get the pool that will make them happiest in the long run.

Regrettably, some people only focus on the initial price of the pool with the goal of finding the cheapest contractor, therefore sacrificing low-maintenance, quality, warranty, and aesthetics, which inevitably leads to regret. We have had numerous customers walk into our shop, wishing they had chosen us to install their pool. Especially considering that unlike a car, a swimming pool cannot be traded in if one is disappointed and unhappy with their result.

Some of the most common “add-ons” found in the purchase of a swimming pool:

  • Lighting
  • Coping
  • Driveway / garden protection boards
  • Upgrading chlorinators with Wi-Fi compatibility and pH dosing systems
  • Mineral options
  • Water Features
  • Spa jets & swim jets
  • Handrails, ladders, slides and robotic pool cleaners
  • Spillway spas, or Aqualedge
  • Heat pumps, swimming for longer
  • Blanket roller / blanket box / underground blanket roller

As you can see from the above list, there are many options available. When someone receives a swimming pool proposal / quote from our company, we thoroughly examine each option as to educate the homeowner on the optional benefits. We want to identify its overall importance to the success of the project. Our overall objective is to ensure your family gets the most joy from your investment!

So…. How much does a fibreglass pool cost? The average price of a quality fibreglass swimming pool is about $45K – $65K. For comparison purposes, liner pools will cost less, and normally concrete pools are a lot more expensive, closer to $100K. But over 10 years you spend around $4K in maintenance with a fibreglass pool, rather than around $11K for vinyl-liner or around $25K for concrete.

Bringing fun to SA families!
